Greece Mission Trip

Are you interested in seeing firsthand how God is working in and through the Middle East Refugee Crisis? Are you willing to come alongside brothers and sisters in Christ who are ministering to displaced people? If so, join Kay Burklin on a team to work with the Greek Evangelical Church in Athens, Greece. See below for some current details of the trip.

Dates: September 22 – October 1, 2017 (these are projected dates that could change slightly)

Cost: $1800-2200 (depending on the cost of airfare at booking). There will be efforts made to help raise offerings for the trip so that individuals are not responsible for the full amount.

Requirements: Faith in Jesus Christ. A desire to minister to those in need. Physical fitness – the group walks approximately 5 miles/day on uneven cobblestone streets, up and down stairways, and travels regularly by subway. A willingness to be flexible and a capacity for working long, emotionally taxing days – the schedule and daily responsibilities change frequently and there is not much downtime. International travel experience is helpful though not a requirement.

Ministry Activities: Working in refugee centers during the daytime, Monday-Friday. Activities at the centers include cleaning, serving tea, teaching English, playing with children, sorting items, helping with resumes, and whatever else is helpful to the workers in Athens. Meeting with church planters throughout the city in the evenings, Monday-Friday, to hear about their work, encourage them, and pray for them. A visit to an anti-trafficking ministry would be planned for one afternoon.

Application Process: If you are interested please download Mission to the World’s application below, complete it, and return it to the church office no later than Sunday, July 16, 2017. Do not submit any money with your application. We will deal with financial matters at a later time. Team sizes vary based on the needs expressed by the Greek Evangelical Church leaders. We are currently planning to take up to five team members (ages 18 and up) on this trip. If we have more applicants than we are able to accommodate this trip we will work with Kay Burklin and Mission to the World (MTW) to place those who are willing on other teams going on future trips.
