Prayer Focus: Veteran’s Day

PRAYER FOCUSNovember 11th is Veteran’s Day.  This holiday was initially acknowledged as a recognition of those who served in he U.S. Armed Forces during World War 1.  It coincides with Armistice Day, which is observed in several of the former Allied Nations.  An armistice is a cease-fire.  A pause, if not an end, of hostilities.  During the week ahead, let us give thanks to the Lord for those who have served our nation through military service.  As we do so, may such prayers be a reminder to us that while cease-fires in the here and now are often just temporary, the victory that Christ has won over sin and death, by His crucifixion and resurrection is once and for all. Let us look to Him, in the midst of all our troubles, praying for the peace that He has promised to bring to the whole world upon His return, when there will be an eternal armistice.  Let us also give the Lord praise for those “veterans” of the faith who have served in the church militant, carrying the Good News of the Gospel into the world against the forces of spiritual darkness.
